Hugh Freeze might have found his quarterback of the future.

The new Ole Miss coach, who landed the job in December, received his 12th commitment of the 2013 signing class Monday as signal-caller Ryan Buchanan pledged to the Rebels.

Buchanan is rated as a three-star prospect out of Jackson (Miss.) Prep, according to Scout.com. He is rated as the No. 30 quarterback prospect in the class after throwing for more than 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback also fielded offers from the Rebels’ SEC opponents Auburn, Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Ole Miss has shuffled through a litany of quarterbacks on offense since NFL star Eli Manning left campus following the 2003 season–a factor that played into Buchanan’s decision.

“I feel that I can come in and take a leadership role and be their guy for four years,” Buchanan said in an interview with OMSpirit.com. “Ole Miss hasn’t done that since Eli (Manning) left. That’s big for me.”

Buchanan and his Jackson Prep team can be seen in action on September 13 against Pearl High School on FOX Sports South.
