After the Columbus Police Department announced Tuesday no charges would be filed against Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde for his part in an incident that took place in a Columbus nightclub, all eyes turned to Urban Meyer in regards to how the head coach of the Buckeyes would respond.
That answer came Tuesday night when the university published a statement from Meyer briefly detailing Hyde's punishment.
“Carlos Hyde will be suspended for at least the first three games of the 2013 season for conduct not representative of this football program or this university," Meyer said in a statement. "He will be required to fulfill additional obligations before he is allowed to play in a game.”
Ohio State opens the season at home Aug. 31 against Buffalo and then welcomes San Diego State to the Horseshoe a week later. The Buckeyes' third game is at California on Sept. 14.
Hyde, a senior from Naples, Fla., was the Buckeyes' No. 1 running back last season, when he ran for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns.
