Ohio State depth chart sees some changes for week two

Ohio State's second depth chart of the regular season includes a few changes from the first, including a handful of positions where co-starters were listed last week but only one name remains.

The position battle that probably received the most attention in the offseason was free safety, where highly touted sophomore Vonn Bell is listed as the starter this week after coming on in relief of classmate Cam Burrows in the season-opening win against Navy. Bell tied for third on the team with seven tackles against the Midshipmen while Burrows had four.

Senior captain Michael Bennett is listed as the lone starter at his defensive tackle position after sharing that designation with sophomore Tommy Schutt last week, and two shared spots on the offensive line no longer are listed with co-starters. Junior Jacoby Boren is listed as the No. 1 center while redshirt freshman Billy Price is the No. 1 right guard ahead of sophomore Kyle Dodson and true freshman Marcelys Jones, both newcomers to the depth chart this week. Senior Joel Hale spelled Price for a few series last Saturday and is now listed as the backup to No. 1 left guard Pat Elflein.

Redshirt freshmen Eli Apple and Gareon Conley remain listed as co-starters at the field cornerback position. Apple started last week and appeared to get more snaps.

Sophomore Dontre Wilson and redshirt freshman Jalin Marshall are still listed as co-starters at H-back while Ezekiel Elliott, Rod Smith and Curtis Samuel all share the same spot on the running back list -- No. 1.

Elliott had the most carries last week (12 for 44 yards) but Samuel edged him in yards (45) and yards per carry (6.4 to 3.7). Wilson carried six times for 43 yards, an average of 7.2.
