Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer had an appendectomy on Wednesday.

"Everything is going to be all right," an Ohio State spokesman said.

Meyer was to speak at the University of Findlay in northwest Ohio on Wednesday night, but his appearance has been cancelled. He is scheduled to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium on Friday night, and that along with other related planned activities in New York City remain on, at least tentatively.

Prior to taking the head coaching job with the Buckeyes, the Ohio native had a successful run as head coach at the University of Florida from 2005-10. Meyer resigned from that job in 2009 due to health problems, though he returned to coach the following season. In March 2014, Meyer had an arachnoid cyst on his brain drained but was back at the Buckeyes' spring practice within a week.
