Nova Southeastern makes 14 3s, shocks FIU 77-59

MIAMI (AP) -- Justin Jeangerard scored a career-high 21 points and Nova Southeastern toppled Florida International in a 77-59 upset on Tuesday night.

The victory was Nova Southeastern's first ever over a Division I team since it joined the NCAA Division II level in 2002.

NSU (2-5) went ahead 3-1 just 1:04 into the contest and would lead the entire game from there.

The Sharks made extra passes to create open 3s. Jeangerard was 5 of 7 from 3-point range and Maurice Fuller was 4 of 8. The Sharks used 14 3-pointers to build a 64-55 lead and made 11 of 13 free throws in the final 3:37 to pull away.

FIU (7-4) saw its eight-game home winning streak snapped in the first meeting between the schools in 21 years.

Rakeem Buckles had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead FIU which had 23 turnovers and was 1 of 10 from 3-point range.
