After playing the last six games on the road, the Red Wings will be home for the next three before the All-Star break.
"It's going to be nice going home," captain Henrik Zetterberg told reporters in St. Louis after the 3-2 overtime win. "You miss the Joe and miss the fans. We're happy with the way we played this road trip."
The Wings went 4-2 on the road and improved to 11-7-3 overall on the road.
Pavel Datsyuk provided the overtime heroics for the Wings, scoring with a little more than two seconds left.
"I hear (with) five seconds left our bench yell 'five seconds!'" Datsyuk told reporters in St. Louis. "I just shoot quick as possible."
It was Datsyuk's seventh career overtime goal and first since April 5, 2013, at Colorado.
"We had a good angle there, so we saw that it was in," Joakim Andersson told reporters in St. Louis. "It was huge to get both points here. St. Louis had won five in a row before this so we're happy to get two points from them."
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the seven overtime goals are tied for fourth on the team's all-time list with Zetterberg and Herbie Lewis. Sergei Fedorov leads with 12.
In his career, Datsyuk has 25 goals and 50 assists in 65 games against the Blues, the most points he has against any opponent.
ANDERSSON GETS FIRST GOAL
Although Datsyuk scored the game-winner, Andersson scored the first goal of the game, which was his first of the season.
Andersson, who scored eight goals last season, last scored March 30, 2014 at home against Tampa Bay.
"It took a little while," Andersson said. "It's a good feeling. It was a big goal."
The goal came when Andersson was able to beat Blues goalie Brian Elliott on a rebound of Drew Miller's shot.
"Right there, that's where you score the most goals in this league, right around the net for rebounds," Andersson said. "I had a good opportunity to get it in."
Wings coach Mike Babcock was happy for Andersson.
"It was great for Andy," Babcock told reporters in St. Louis. "Andy has been a good solider for us, worked hard, been in and out of the lineup. That line was good for us. We had lots of good players."
Andersson said it was nice to get the monkey off of his back.
"I had tons of chances the first 10-15 games," Andersson said. "Then I didn't create much until lately I feel like, so it was good to get one. Confidence is huge when you get a goal."
BLUES FINALLY SCORE ON MRAZEK
When David Backes scored at 3:58 of the third period, it snapped Petr Mrazek's shutout streak at St. Louis at 128:13.
That dates back to Alex Pietrangelo's goal at 15:45 of the second period in the Wings' 5-1 victory there on Feb. 7. 2013.
Mrazek made 25 saves to improve to 3-0-0 against the Blues.
"I thought he played really good," Babcock said. "Pete's got to find his game at this level obviously. It's one thing to be backing up for Howie (Jimmy Howard). It's another to be the starter and know you're playing and still have the confidence to do what you do. You've got to give the kid credit. He made some big saves (Thursday night) and he was there and square and he didn't over challenge a ton. He played like a real goalie and he's so good with the puck."
Mrazek is 7-3-1 with a 2.13 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 11 games.
