The No. 15-ranked University of Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team took on former WCHA foes the Colorado College Tigers at the Kohl Center, ending the Tigers' longest undefeated streak of the season. The Badgers remain undefeated at home this season.

After a first period with plenty of looks but no goals, Joseph LaBate got the Badgers on the board first with a power play goal midway through the second period. CC's A. Krushelnyski evened things up, but Nic Kerdiles scored for the Badgers during a pileup with 1.1 seconds left to end the second period in the lead.

Michael Mersch kept the scoring going in the third period with his 51st career goal and 100th point for the Badgers. Frankie Simonelli further padded the Badgers' lead for a 4-1 win.

Goaltender Joel Rumpel ended up with 24 saves on 25 shots. The Badgers outshot the Tigers 30-25 and held the edge on the power play, going 2-4.

Kerdiles was selected to the World Juniors preliminary roster last week, and will leave for Sweden on Saturday, when the teams continue their nearly 50-year-old rivalry with a 186th matchup Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Kohl Center.
