NMSU dominates Northern New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) -- Sy Bandja scored 19 points and New Mexico State shot 60 percent in a 100-68 victory over Northern New Mexico on Tuesday night.

Hamidu Rahman had 18, giving him 1,008 points for his career as the Aggies (19-8) won the nonconference game. Daniel Mullings added 14 points, Tyrone Watson 13 and Hernst Laroche 12.

New Mexico State converted 41 of 68 shots and amassed a 44-26 rebounding advantage.

Tevin Caldwell scored 17 points to pace the Eagles (0-30), an NAIA school. Gabriel Martinez added 14.

Northern New Mexico trailed 26-18 when Mario Caetano hit a layup, Demeatrio Wade sank a jumper and Caetano came back with a 3-pointer to trim the gap to 26-25 with 5:45 left in the first half.

But the Aggies finished with a 19-4 spurt and led 45-29 at the break. The lead ranged from 15 to 33 in the second half.
