The Cowboys have honored the fallen officers of the Dallas Police Department on their helmets during training camp, but they won't be able to during the season.
The NFL denied on Wednesday the Cowboys' request to display the "Arm in Arm" decals, according to the Dallas Morning News.
"Everyone has to be uniform with the league and the other 31 teams," team owner/general manager Jerry Jones told reporters. "We respect their decision."
The Cowboys kicked off training camp in Oxnard, Calif. by walking "Arm in Arm" with the Dallas Police Chief, the city's mayor, and the families of the slain officers during last month's shooting.
Veteran tight end Jason Witten led the team in creating the decals.
The Cowboys will also not be allowed to display the decal when they open preseason against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.
