New Zealand chases 105 to beat Pakistan in 1st test

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (AP) New Zealand will chase 105 runs to win the first cricket test against Pakistan after dismissing the tourists for 171 in their second innings on Sunday.
Pakistan trailed by 67 runs on the first innings after being dismissed for 131 in its first innings. New Zealand replied with 200 and the low scoring continued when Pakistan went to stumps on the third day at 129-7, a lead of only 62.
Sohail Khan (40) and Asad Shafiq (17) combined in a 53-run partnership for the eighth wicket, which delayed New Zealand's push for victory and a 1-0 lead in the two-test series.
When Sohail was out at 158-8, the tail followed quickly and New Zealand was left with a moderate winning target.
Neil Wagner took 3-34, including his 100th test wicket, Trent Boult took 3-37, and Tim Southee 3-53.
