New Mexico St. beats I-10 rival UTEP 86-73

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) -- Daniel Mullings scored 26 points to lead New Mexico State past Interstate 10 rival UTEP 86-73 on Friday night.
Mullings was 9-of-14 shooting and made eight of his 13 free throws for New Mexico State (3-1). Sim Bhullar had 11 points for the Aggies and Tshilidzi Nephawe added nine and grabbed 12 boards.
UTEP (1-1) was paced by Vince Hunter with 16 points, eight coming from the free throw line. Julian Washburn added 15 points for the Miners and McKenzie Moore had 12. UTEP was out-rebounded 37-23 and shot 13 less free throws -- 47-34.
The game was the 205th matchup between the two schools, with New Mexico State ahead in the series 105-100. The teams first met in 1915 -- which the Aggies won 32-28. The Aggies are now 55-42 when playing UTEP on their home court.
