Nevada gambling regulators to weigh new fantasy sports model

LAS VEGAS (AP) A new gambling platform set to be approved in Nevada will further blur the lines between sports betting and fantasy sports.
It comes as the daily fantasy sports industry argues in the face of legal challenges across the country that its games aren't gambling. It distanced itself from the newly developed system.
The Nevada Gaming Commission is expected to approve a gambling license Thursday for Henderson-based US Fantasy to operate its sports system.
It essentially blends both forms of wagering but with different ways of paying out prize money. In US Fantasy, a gambler bets against others, with winnings dependent on what others bet.
An industry leader predicts it won't have a major effect on fantasy sports overall because it may only work in Nevada, where sports betting is already legal.
