The NBA has suspended Milwaukee Bucks center Larry Sanders for a minimum of 10 games for violating the terms of the league's anti-drug program.
Sanders' suspension will begin with Monday's game against the Toronto Raptors and will continue "until he is in compliance with his treatment program."
The NBA does not reveal the reason for the violation, but Sanders has not been shy about his use of marijuana. Sanders admitted marijuana use was the reason for his five-game suspension last April.
The league's anti-drug policy says a player is required to enter the "Marijuana Program" on his first violation, fined $25,000 for the second violation and suspended five games on the third failed test. Any subsequent violation will result in an additional five games to the original suspension, which is currently the case with Sanders.
Sanders has been away from the Bucks since Dec. 23 and has missed Milwaukee's last 12 games due to "personal reasons." He appeared in front of the media Jan. 6 but did not reveal any details surrounding his absence, citing a need to work through numerous personal issues before a return to the court would be possible.
The suspension adds to a growing list of mishaps by Sanders since the 26-year-old signed a four-year, $44 million contract extension with the Bucks in August of 2013. He missed 25 games at the beginning of the 2013-14 due to a torn thumb ligament suffered in an altercation at a local nightclub following Milwaukee's home opener.
While sitting out the final 30 games of last season with a fractured right orbital bone, Sanders was suspended by the NBA for violating the league's anti-drug policy.
In the first year the four-year contract extension, Sanders is averaging 7.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 27 games this season.
