NBA Summer League recap: Pelicans 101, Bucks 89


The Milwaukee Bucks were outgunned by the New Orleans Pelicans in their summer-league opener on Friday night, as the Pelicans shot 55.1 percent from the field.
Milwaukee found itself in an early hole, trailing 29-13 after the first quarter against New Orleans. The Bucks, did, however, see five players score in double figures, led by guard Sean Kilpatrick, who poured in 24 points. Other Bucks to reach double digits in scoring included, forward Kevin Jones (15 points), rookie guard Rashad Vaughn (14), guard Jerome Randle (12) and forward Cameron Clark (12).
Vaughn, Milwaukee's first-round draft pick last month, went 5 for 14 from the field, including 0 for 4 from 3-point territory.
Starring five: F - Damien Inglis, Jones; C - Michael Eric; G -Vaughn, Jorge Gutierrez.
Hobbled: Johnny O'Bryant didn't play due to a hamstring injury. Inglis' game was cut short after he appeared to tweak his right ankle.
Stat corner: The Bucks outrebounded the Pelicans 33-30 . . . Milwaukee had only 11 assists on it 33 field goals. New Orleans had 25 assists on its 38 FG . . . Jones led the Bucks with eight rebounds while Gutierrez had four assists . . . The Pelcians had 11 steals, the Bucks only three.
