FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Senior cornerback Anders Battle was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Battle’s accolade gives Northern Arizona its second honor in as many weeks after safety Lucky Dozier picked up the award last week. The Lumberjacks also moved up one spot up to 20th in the FCS poll that was released Sundaymorning.
Battle recorded the first points of the game for NAU on Saturday when he intercepted a pass by South Dakota’s Josh Vander Maten late in the first quarter and returned it for a 49-yard touchdown. Battle also registered a trio of tackles and was credited with three pass breakups.
With the 22-16 win, the Lumberjacks improved to 2-1.
