NAU volleyball looks to solidify lead in South Division
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- As the Big Sky Conference season heads into the second half, Northern Arizona volleyball hosts Montana State and Montana in a pair of key conference matches this week at Rolle Activity Center.
The Lumberjacks (17-4, 7-1) have a 23-match home-court winning streak heading into Thursday night's match vs. Montana State (4-13, 2-6), which can be seen on FOX Sports Arizona Plus starting at 7 p.m.
The homestand concludes at noon Saturday against Montana (4-14, 1-7), part of a volleyball-football double-header between the Lumberjacks and Grizzlies.
NAU solidified its hold on first place in the Big Sky South Division with victories last week over Portland State and Sacramento State. The Lumberjacks' 7-1 conference record matches that of North Division leader North Dakota.
NAU freshman Abby Akin was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after recording 13 blocks in last week's two victories. She ranks fourth in the conference with 1.20 blocks per set.
The Lumberjacks lead the conference in htting percentage (.275) and also lead the conference in limiting their opponents to a hitting percentage of .153.
