NAU stunned by Southern Utah in 3OT

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- Southern Utah's Cody Larsen sacked Northern Arizona's Cary Grossart for a 15-yard loss on a fourth-and-3 play, keeping the Lumberjacks out of the end zone in the third overtime and preserving a 35-29 victory for the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
The loss dropped Northern Arizona (8-2, 6-1 Big Sky) into a tie for the conference lead with Eastern Washington and Montana State. Southern Utah (5-6, 4-4) also gave Eastern Washington its only conference setback.
The difference for Southern Utah in the third overtime proved to be Easton Pedersen's 22-yard touchdown pass from Brad Sorensen.
Sorensen rushed for a 4-yard TD for the first Southern Utah points in overtime, and threw a 14-yard TD pass to Fatu Moala. Northern Arizona's TDs in overtime came on a 12-yard pass from Grossart to Dejzon Walker and a 17-yard pass from Grossart to Ify Umodu.
Grossart threw four TD passes but was sacked six times.
