NAU looks to start 2-0 on FOX Sports Arizona Plus


FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona on Saturday will celebrate its annual Hall of Fame weekend with an induction of wide receiver Clarence Moore and shot to move to 2-0.
The Lumberjacks host New Mexico Highlands at 4 p.m. on FOX Sports Arizona Plus. Moore, the program's all-time leading receiver, will go into the Hall of Fame during a halftime ceremony.
A 2-0 start would be NAU's first since the 2001 season.
NAU opened the season last week with a 34-28 win over then-No. 45 Stephen F. Austin. It was the first win over an FCS opponent in a season opener since 2001. Spectacular play by freshman Case Cookus at quarterback, sophomore wide receiver Emmanuel Butler and running back Casey Jahn boosted the Lumberjack offense.
NAU's defense saw Josh Bamrick and Marcus Alford each record nine tackles.
New Mexico Highlands (0-1) is guided by first-year head coach Jeff Mills. Prior to his arrival, he served one year as the defensive line coach at Indiana State and two years as the defensive coordinator at New Mexico.
The Cowboys opened the season with a 40-10 loss to Eastern New Mexico on the road. In the Cowboys' loss to ENMU, it was the first time NMHU had not scored 20 points in a game since Oct. 11, 2014. The Cowboys scored 20 or more points in all but one game last season.
NAU won the last season's meeting with the Cowboys, 62-23.
