NAU hosts NJIT in CIT semifinals

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona is the state's only college basketball team still playing as NAU hosts New Jersey Institute of Technology in the semifinals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament on Tuesday as.

Tip-off at the Walkup Skydome is slated for 6 p.m.

The Lumberjacks (22-14) have won eight consecutive home games, 10 of their past 12 and 14 of their last 17.

The Lumberjacks opened the CIT with a 75-70 win at Grand Canyon and backed it up with a 78-73 win versus conference foe Sacramento State in the second round. In Saturday's quarterfinals game versus Kent State, NAU defeat the Golden Flashes 74-73 in overtime.

NAU's win at Grand Canyon was the first postseason victory for the school. The Lumberjacks continue to make history after beating Sacramento State, while the win over the Golden Flashes was school record No. 22 on the season. The Lumberjacks are looking to become the first Big Sky team to win the CIT.

NAU and NJIT will face off for the first time in school history.

NJIT defeated Canisius 78-73 in the quarterfinals of the CIT to advance to the semifinals. The Highlanders picked up wins versus New Hampshire (84-77) and Cleveland State (80-77) in the first and second round. NJIT is 21-11.

The winner of NAU-NJIT will face the winner of Evansville-UT-Martin. The championship game is set for Thursday at a to-be-determined campus.
