TUCSON, Ariz. -- There will be a Dogg in the 'Cat house.
On Tuesday night, Naijiel Hale announced he will be attending the University of Arizona on a football scholarship. The son of late rapper Nate Dogg chose UA over California, Utah and other Pac-12 suitors.
He called it "dream come true" in playing for a Pac-12 school. Hale made the announcement at Nike's The Opening in Portland, Ore.
After making his decision, Halle put on a red UA hoodie.
"Bear Down," Hale said quickly after.
Hale is rated as a four-star prospect by Scout.com and is the 20th-ranked cornerback nationally. He said Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez has told him he'll play somewhere in the defensive backfield. Hale is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound senior-to-be at Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco in Los Angeles.
"It's just what I wanted since I was a young (man) in watching the Pac-12," Hale said. "It's great to be able to do what I watched people do while I was younger. It's a dream come true."
Hale is the second celebrity son recruit landed by Rodriguez. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Trey Griffey of Orlando, Fla., is the son of future baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey, Jr.
