My Fiona wins C.T.B.A. Stakes at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) My Fiona, a daughter of 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper, defeated 7-10 favorite Lost Bus by a neck to win the $100,000 C.T.B.A. Stakes for California-bred 2-year-old fillies on Friday.

Ridden by Fernando Perez, My Fiona ran 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.90 and paid $13, $4.40 and $3.40.

Lost Bus returned $2.80 and $2.60, while 44-1 shot Take Back Spring was another 8 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $8.20 to show.

My Fiona earned $57,000 and has two wins in three starts. Trainer Walther Solis earned his first stakes victory at Del Mar, while Perez won for the first time at the seaside track.
