Musir has won the $2 million UAE Derby, handing a second victory on the Dubai World Cup card to a member of the emirate's royal family.

Race favorite Musir eased past Raihana down the straight on Saturday, giving a 1-2 finish to owner Sheik Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum in the fourth race on the $26 million program. Della Barba, who challenged for the lead midway through the race, finished third.

Solid Choice, also owned by Sheik Mohammed, set the pace early in the UAE Derby but faded. Musir emerged alongside Raihana and Della Barba before pulling away.

Musir's victory followed that of Calming Influence in the $1 million Godolphin Mile, which is owned by Sheik Mohammed's Godolphin Racing stables.
