Monday's Cactus League report

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- This was no ordinary split-squad game in spring training.
The Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks traveled two hours to Tucson on Monday to honor Christina-Taylor Green, the 9-year-old girl killed in the attack on congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Chicago beat the Diamondbacks 12-1 in the exhibition to benefit the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Fund.
"A lot of guys wanted to come here because of the cause," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said.
Six people were killed and 13 injured in the January shooting in Tucson. Both teams used to hold spring training at the complex where the game was held before moving to the Phoenix area, and 7,419 fans were in attendance.
Green's father, John, is a scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers and grandfather Dallas was a former major league manager and pitcher.
The young girl's 11-year-old brother, also named Dallas, threw out a first ball, as did some of her Little League teammates. Guillen and Diamondbacks players John Hester and Tony Abreu caught the tosses.
"I'm not the kind of guy who chokes up too often," Guillen said. "I got tears in my eyes when those kids came up and shook my hand."
Cubs 14, Angels 13
MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Carlos Silva got hit hard in his first game since a dugout altercation with Cubs teammate Aramis Ramirez.
Silva, who is competing for a spot in Chicago's rotation, gave up eight runs and 10 hits in 2 1-3 innings. The right-hander groused about the fielding following his lone inning in his spring debut and third baseman Ramirez took offense, leading to a confrontation.
Silva took the blame for the incident and Ramirez said he had moved on.
Dan Haren pitched three hitless innings for the Angels, striking out three and walking one.
Bryan LaHair singled in Fernando Perez in the ninth to give Chicago the win.
Mariners 6, Athletics 3
PHOENIX (AP) -- Seattle ace Felix Hernandez shook off a line drive that just missed hitting him in the head, striking out three over 2 2-3 innings in his spring debut.
Perhaps the hardest-hit ball against the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner came off the bat of A's leadoff man David DeJesus. The single up the middle was one of five hits Hernandez allowed.
Hernandez threw 53 pitches, 34 for strikes.
Indians 16, White Sox (ss) 16, 9 innings
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Alex Rios of the White Sox and Luis Valbuena of the Indians each homered twice and drove in five runs as Cleveland and a Chicago split-squad played to a tie.
Winds gusted up to 25 mph at times in a slugfest that included 21 runs and 22 hits through the first four innings.
Rios hit a two-run shot in the first and a three-run drive off Mitch Talbot in Chicago's seven-run second, helping the White Sox to a 9-6 lead.
Valbuena had a two-run homer in the second and a tying three-run shot in the eighth that made it 14-all.
Dodgers 7, Rockies 1
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Ubaldo Jimenez showed no ill effects from an infected thumb that pushed back his start a few days, pitching three scoreless innings for Colorado.
Jimenez gave up a hit and walked one in his first appearance since Feb. 26.
Dodgers left-hander Ted Lilly, who had his first start delayed because of the flu, allowed a run in 3 1-3 innings.
Brewers 15, Reds 2
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) -- Brandon Boggs homered off Reds starter Homer Bailey and drove in four runs, leading the Brewers to the rout.
Milwaukee piled up 25 hits and roughed up Bailey, who is trying to win one of two openings in Cincinnati's rotation. He left in the third inning after giving up three consecutive hits with two down.
Brewers starter Yovani Gallardo struck out five in three scoreless innings, allowing two hits.
Diamondbacks (ss) 8, Royals (ss) 6
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona reliever J.J. Putz pitched a perfect inning and the Diamondbacks outhomered Kansas City.
A wind that gusted up to 29 mph toward right-center field helped several balls fly over the wall.
Juan Mirando, Konrad Schmidt, A.J. Pollock and Ryan Wheeler homered for the Diamondbacks.
Melky Cabrera, Kila Ka'aihue and Clint Robinson went deep for the Royals.
Putz, signed to be the Diamondbacks' closer, worked a flawless fourth in his spring debut.
Royals (ss) 11, Padres 3
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- Sean O'Sullivan pitched efficiently and benefited from two laser throws by catching phenom Salvador Perez as a Kansas City split squad beat San Diego.
It was a matchup of teams that will have two of the lowest payrolls in baseball.
O'Sullivan, who went to high school in the San Diego area, gave up a long opposite-field home run to Brad Hawpe on a windy night, one of the two hits he allowed in three innings. O'Sullivan, one of six pitchers vying for five spots, struck out two and walked two.
Perez, a 20-year-old non-roster catcher who's never played above Class A, twice threw out Padres leadoff batter Will Venable trying to steal second.
Giants 4, Rangers 1
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Pat Burrell hit a two-run home run and Cody Ross drove in two runs with a two-out single in the fifth inning, rallying San Francisco past Texas.
Left-hander Jonathan Sanchez kept the Giants close with a strong performance in his third Cactus League start, allowing a run and two hits and striking out five in four innings.
The teams played each other for the first time since last year's World Series, won by San Francisco in five games.
Former Giant Yorvit Torrealba doubled in a run in the second inning for the Rangers. Alexi Ogando, a reliever in 2010 making his first spring training start, struck out four in three shutout innings for Texas.
The Giants scored all of their runs off reliever Tommy Hunter, who gave up five hits and struck out three in three innings.
