Kaka inspired Orlando City to an unexpected draw in Quebec. Orlando City traveled to Montréal with just 15 players in the squad. The home side exacerbated those concerns by scoring twice inside the first 27 minutes through Ignacio Piatti and Jack McInerney. Orlando City engineered an immediate response as Luke Boden and Kaka prompted Pedro Ribeiro’s riposte after 29 minutes. The former AC Milan and Real Madrid star then completed the turnaround a minute later to give the visitors a share of the spoils.

FCD survived an early red card to Kellyn Acosta to salvage a point at Toyota Stadium. Acosta earned his marching orders inside the first 20 minutes after he caught Andy Rose in the stomach with his boot exposed. The dismissal exerted little influence over a match where the two depleted Western Conference powers failed to register a single shot on goal.
D.C. United 1 -- LA Galaxy 0
United claimed all three points at the death to stun the MLS Cup holders at RFK Stadium. The match appeared headed toward a scoreless draw until Nick DeLeon intervened deep into second-half stoppage time. DeLeon cut inside his marker with a clever touch and then played a delicate ball toward the back post. Chris Pontius nodded home to give United all three points.

Mike Grella pounced moments after entering as a substitute to send the Red Bulls to the top of the Eastern Conference. Bradley Wright-Phillips converted from the spot four minutes after halftime to give the visitors a firm foothold, but Tony Tchani equalized for Crew SC just before the hour. Grella decided the affair when he chipped Steve Clark after 67 minutes. Crew SC pushed for a reply in the late stages, but the home side instead succumbed to frustration and watched Federico Higuain procure a second booking for dissent inside the final 10 minutes.

Kelyn Rowe struck twice to end the Revolution’s scoreless drought and secure a first victory of the season at snowy Gillette Stadium. The enterprising midfielder received a fortunate deflection on his opening goal in the 21st minute. Rowe doubled the advantage eight minutes before the break to set the Revs on the proper course. San Jose improved after the interval and pulled a goal back from the spot just after the hour, but the Earthquakes could not produce the second goal required to snatch a point.

Both teams failed to muster much of a threat in the scoreless draw at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tyler Deric thwarted Marcelo Sarvas twice in the first half, while Zach Steinberger lashed wide after the interval. The result left Colorado as the only MLS team to open the season with three consecutive scoreless draws.
