Mississippi defeats East Tennessee State

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Marshall Henderson scored 22 points as Mississippi placed four players in double figures to defeat East Tennessee State 77-55 Friday night.

Reginald Buckner scored 11 points while Nick Williams and Murphy Holloway added 10 points apiece for Ole Miss (7-1). Henderson hit six 3-point shots and was 7 of 15 from the field. The Rebels shot 43.8 percent (28 of 64) from the field.

Lester Wilson led East Tennessee State (2-6) with 14 points. Jarvis Jones and Mario Stramaglia added 11 points apiece. The Buccaneers shot 32.7 percent (18 of 55) from the field.

The lead changed hands 10 times in the opening 10 minutes. The Buccaneers held their biggest lead, 16-13, on a Hunter Harris basket with 9:13 left in the first half. East Tennessee State would go nearly eight minutes without another basket.

Ole Miss answered with a 15-1 run en route to a 33-22 halftime lead. Henderson, Jarvis Summers and Martavious Newby connected on 3-point shots in the decisive surge and the Rebels were never seriously threatened.

Ole Miss connected on four 3-pointers, including a pair by Henderson, in the opening six minutes of the second half to build a 49-33 lead with 14:42 left. East Tennessee State never pulled within double digits again.

The biggest lead came in the final minute, 77-54 on a Derrick Millinghaus layup. The reserve guard finished with nine points, three steals and two assists in 20 minutes of play.

Ole Miss outrebounded East Tennessee State 43-40, led by Holloway with nine and Buckner with eight.

The Rebels forced 22 turnovers and blocked nine shots, including three by Buckner.

Harris had a game-high 12 rebounds and a blocked shot for the Buccaneers, who have lost three straight games.
