NEW YORK (AP) A minor league catcher who most recently played in the San Diego Padres' system has been suspended 100 games for a drug violation.
Free agent Rodney Daal was penalized Thursday after a third positive test for a drug of abuse.
The 20-year-old Daal hit .214 with two home runs and six RBIs in a combined 12 games at the rookie and low Class A levels. He had played in the Padres' organization since he was 17.
There have been 63 players suspended this year under the minor league drug program.
