Mike Modano Hall of Fame induction special on FOX Sports Southwest

FOX Sports Southwest will shine the spotlight on Dallas Stars icon Mike Modano's Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony in a 30-minute special that premieres on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5:00 p.m. CT, prior to STARS LIVE at 5:30 p.m. CT, before the Stars host Montreal.
SPOTLIGHT: MIKE MODANO HALL OF FAMER will include highlights from the 2014 Hockey Hall of Fame induction weekend held Nov. 14-17 in Toronto.
Hosted by John Rhadigan, who accompanied Modano to the ceremony in Toronto, the program follows Modano through the weekend events and reflects back on his distinguished career with the Stars.
It includes Modano's induction speech and interviews with Modano and his family attending induction weekend. Stars owner Tom Gaglardi and fellow Hall of Fame members Ed Belfour, Brett Hull and Joe Nieuwendyk, the only other Stars players to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, are among others who share stories of Modano's brilliant career.
Modano helped the Stars capture the 1999 Stanley Cup and is one of only four Stars players to have his number retired, when his iconic No. 9 sweater was retired by the organization in March.
"This moves right up there with the Cup," Modano tells Rhadigan. "It's one of those things that really solidifies a career. You don't expect it to happen, but if it ever does it tops everything else you did. Just to be recognized for everything that I accomplished on and off the ice, the impact on the game. You don't set out to do those things. They just seem to accumulate over time. I tried to be a consistent player, tried to get ready every summer for the fall, tried to be an impact guy every time out there. I had guys around me to push me really hard, which you're always thankful for in the end. It's a cumulative of everything that's happened. You just really can't describe it."
Modano played 21 seasons in the NHL and is the all-time franchise leader in nearly every category, including games played (1,459), goals (557), assists (802), points (1,359), shorthanded goals (29), game-winning goals (92) and power play tallies (156). A seven-time NHL All-Star and United States Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Modano is also the American-born record holder in goals (561) and points (1,374).
