JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Veteran catcher Miguel Olivo has agreed to terms with the Miami Marlins pending a physical, hours after he was released from his minor-league contract by the Cincinnati Reds.
Olivo played for the Marlins in 2006-07. He played for Seattle last year and hit .222 with 12 home runs in 87 games.
The Marlins have been in the market for a backup catcher to Rob Brantly since Jeff Mathis broke his collarbone early in spring training.
