Miami's Rion Brown, FSU's Aaron Thomas earn All-ACC honors

Two players from the Sunshine State were named to the All-ACC team Monday afternoon in voting by media members that cover the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Miami senior guard Rion Brown was named to the third team after averaging 15.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Brown ended the season as the ACC's eighth-best scorer, seventh in field-goal percentage, eighth in 3-point percentage, tied for eighth in 3-pointers made per game and ninth in minutes played. His improvement from 6.3 points per game a season ago to 16.1 per game this year was the third-best among current league players.

The Hurricanes (16-15) will open play against Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Florida State sophomore guard Aaron Thomas was named an honorable mention. Thomas averaged 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds this season.

He shot 84.5 percent from the free-throw line and 44.4 percent from the floor. The Seminoles (18-12) will play Maryland at noon Thursday in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

Duke's Jabari Parker, North Carolina State's T.J. Warren, North Carolina's Marcus Paige, Syracuse's C.J. Fair and Clemson's K.J. McDaniels were named to the first team.

The ACC's player of the year and coach of the year will be named on Tuesday.
