The University of Miami will be without baseball coach Jim Morris for this weekend’s NCAA regional in Louisville, Ky.
Morris, 63, has been hospitalized in Durham, N.C., since May 25 with pneumonia while the team was playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
It was hoped that Morris could rejoin the team in Louisville, but assistant coach Gino DiMare will guide the team in his absence.
Morris has coached Miami since 1994, and guided the Hurricanes to College World Series titles in 1999 and 2001. He is 886-367-3 overall at Miami.
Miami is playing in the NCAA postseason for the 41st straight season. The Hurricanes (36-23) opened the regional on Friday afternoon against Oklahoma State (39-17). Louisville (46-12) and Bowling Green (24-29) are playing in Friday night's game.
