The Mercury signed 6-foot-4 center Lynetta Kizer to a seven-day contract on Thursday. Kizer will join the team immediately and will be available to play Saturday against the Dream.

A rookie out of Maryland, Kizer was selected by the Tulsa Shock in the third round (29th overall) of the WNBA draft. She appeared in seven games for the Shock this season before being waived on June 18.

As a senior at Maryland, Kizer was named the 2012 ACC Sixth Player of the Year after averaging 11.4 points and 5.6 rebounds for the Terrapins, who finished 31-5. She was named to the ACC All-Tournament first team and received All-ACC honorable-mention recognition.

Kizer will wear No. 12 for the Mercury, who are 4-11.
