Melbourne Rebels sign Wales lock Dominic Day
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) The Melbourne Rebels have signed Wales lock Dominic Day as the Super Rugby side continues to boost its forward pack for the 2017 season.
The Rebels said Friday 30-year-old Day had agreed to a one-year deal after a 10-year career with Scarlets in the Pro12 (Europe), Bath in the England Premiership and most recently Toyota Verblitz in Japan's Top League.
Day has made three appearances for Wales since his test debut against Ireland last August and played at the 2015 World Cup.
The signing comes two weeks after Rebels coach Tony McGahan signed Tongan-born Japan test No. 8 Amanaki Mafi to a one-year deal.
The Rebels finished third in the Australian conference this season with a 7-8 won-lost record and did not qualify for the playoffs.
