2011 in review: Beachy had a strong rookie year, making 25 starts and going 7-3 with a 3.68 ERA. He set a team record for strikeouts by a rookie with 169 in 141 2/3 innings.
Career highlight: He earned his first major league victory by holding the Dodgers to two hits in six scoreless innings at Dodger Stadium on April 19, 2011. He set his career high with 11 strikeouts against the Blue Jays on June 22.
Outlook: Like other Braves starters, Beachy has struggled this spring, but he should be the No. 4 starter for most of the season, moving up to third until Tim Hudson returns in May. Beachy hopes to go longer in his starts this season.
You should know: Beachy played mostly third base at Indiana Wesleyan University and signed with the Braves as an undrafted free agent playing in the Valley Summer League in Virginia in 2008.
