Media picks Oregon as Pac-12 favorite, UCLA to win South

Oregon was picked Friday as the favorite to win the 2013 Pac-12 title in a preseason poll of media members who cover the league.

The Ducks were picked to win the conference by 14 of the 25 media members participating in the poll. Stanford got eight votes and UCLA received three.

In the division races, Oregon edged Stanford as the preseason favorite in the North, and UCLA topped Arizona State and USC as the favorite in the South. Arizona finished fourth in the divisional voting.

The South poll saw the first-place votes spread out among three teams: 12 for UCLA, 10 for ASU and four for USC. In the North, Oregon had 15 first-place votes and Stanford got 11.

The media poll has correctly selected the conference champion in 28 of 52 previous polls and 11 of the last 13. Following are the complete poll results (first-place votes in parentheses):
