As the quarterback of defending national champion Alabama, AJ McCarron has trouble keeping a low profile.
But with his dating life now public — thanks, per usual, to social media — it's going to be even tougher to avoid the spotlight in the lead up to January's BCS National Championship.
According to her Twitter account, former Miss Alabama Katherine Webb and McCarron are now an item and have become a popular topic of conversation around the state of Alabama. Since sending out of picture of the two together, Webb, who also plans to sit with McCarron's family during the national title game, has received some pushback for the relationship through her account.
The main reason? She's an Auburn grad.
She graduated as a Tiger in May 2011, and considering the Alabama-Auburn rivalry, expect this to be barber shop-type material for the next few weeks.
Webb was the 2012 Miss Alabama and a top-10 finisher in the 2012 Miss USA pageant.
As far as the school rivalry goes, Webb does not seem to mind and has handled the reaction with good-natured responses.
"Alabama or Auburn, don't care," she tweeted after sending out the photo of her and McCarron. "Love my state and EVERYONE in it."
McCarron's team is searching for its third national title in four seasons.
The Crimson Tide will play Notre Dame on Jan. 7.
