CLEVELAND -- Zach McAllister had one of the best outings of his career on Wednesday as the Indians took the first game of a doubleheader against the Padres.
The right-hander went 7 2/3 innings and allowed just five hits while striking out seven. Of the 28 batters McAllister faced, the longest at-bat went six pitches and he had first-pitch strikes on 15. Wednesday's game ties last year's May 7 game against Oakland as the longest scoreless outing of his career.
Jason Kipnis had the game-winning RBI with a two-run homer in the sixth.
