Marquette landed a pair on the Big East's all-conference teams, as senior forward Davante Gardner and freshman forward Deonte Burton were honored by the league.
Gardner was named to the All-Big East second team, while Burton was selected to the Big East's All-Rookie team.
A preseason All-Big East first team selection, Gardner averaged 15.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and 16.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in conference play. The senior was the Big East's sixth man of the year in 2013 and is a favorite for the award again.
Gardner was picked as an All-Big East honorable mention selection following the 2012-13 season.
Burton has produced in the playing time he's gotten, averaging 6.4 points and shooting 46.4 percent from the field in just 12.2 minutes per game. The freshman from Milwaukee Vincent High School has appeared in all 31 of Marquette's games and started twice.
Creighton forward Doug McDermott, Providence guard Bryce Cotton and Xavier guard Semaj Christon were unanimously chosen for the All-Big East first team. Georgetown guard Markel Starks, St. John's guard D'Angelo Harrison and Villanova guard James Bell round out the first team.
Joining Gardner on the second team are Butler guard Kellen Dunham, Georgetown guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, Providence forward Kadeem Batts, Seton Hall guard/forward Fuquan Edwin and Villanova forward JayVaughn Pinkston.
Creighton forward Ethan Wragge, Villanova guard Ryan Arcidiacono, Villanova guard Darrun Hilliard and Xavier center Matt Stainbrook were honorable mention selections.
Burton is joined on the rookie team by Butler forward Andrew Chrabascz, DePaul guard Billy Garrett Jr., DePaul forward Tommy Hamilton IV, St. John's guard Rysheed Jordan and Villanova guard Josh Hart.
The Golden Eagles enter the Big East tournament seeded sixth and will face third-seeded Xavier in the quarterfinals on Thursday night at 8:30 CT at Madison Square Garden. Marquette wrapped up the regular season at 17-14 overall and 9-9 in the Big East and needs to win the conference tournament to have a shot at the NCAA tournament.
