Marquette adds walk-on guard Thaus

Left with just eight eligible players following the departures of Deonte Burton and John Dawson, Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski has added walk-on guard Pete Thaus to the program.

Thaus, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound redshirt sophomore, is a graduate of Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale, Ill.

A three-year letter winner at Hinsdale Central, Thaus spent his freshman and sophomore years at Indiana before transferring to Marquette in the fall of 2014. Thaus was not a member of the Hoosiers basketball program while enrolled at Indiana.

With the addition of Thaus and Wally Ellenson's ability to practice while redshirting, Marquette now has 10 players on its roster, meaning the Golden Eagles can go five-on-five for practice.

Marquette will have nine players eligible for games, including Thaus and sophomore center Luke Fischer, who is expected to make his season debut Dec. 16 against Arizona State.
