Marquette adds top point guard Howard, grad transfer Reinhardt

The Marquette Golden Eagles added two players to the 2016-17 roster Wednesday, point guard Markus Howard, a highly rated recruit from Chandler, Ariz., and forward Katin Reinhardt, a graduate transfer from Southern California. Both players will be eligible to play next season.
Howard, ranked as a four-star recruit by 247, Rivals and Scout, averaged 18.6 points, 3.4 assists and 2.7 rebounds for Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., this past season.
"He has shown the ability to be a dynamic scorer, as well as an outstanding leader both on and off the court," Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski said in a release.
Howard, who is graduating high school early, made his intentions known earlier in the month with an elaborately produced video.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Reinhardt has one year of eligibility remaining and under the graduate transfer rule can play immediately.
Reinhardt spent the last two seasons at USC after beginning his collegiate career at UNLV. With the Trojans, he started 40 of the 65 games he played in. Last season, Reinhardt averaged 11.4 points and 2.8 rebounds. Overall, Reinhardt has made 36.9 percent of his 3-point attempts and 83.5 percent of his free-throw attempts in college.
"Katin is a terrific addition to our program," Wojciechowski said. "He has shown the ability to be an impact player at the high major level and his experience, versatility and ability to score will be a valuable asset to our program."
