The Marlins took part in Throwback Thursday in a unique way.
Miami announced via its On Cloud Conine blog that the club will wear throwback jerseys of the Miami Sun Sox for its June 8 game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs are having a season-long celebration of "Throwback Sunday" for their "100 Years of Wrigley Field."
The Miami Sun Sox played in 1946 and 1949-1954 at Miami Stadium (later renamed Bobby Maduro Stadium). A minor-league affiliate of the Brooklyn Dodgers, they were league champions in 1950 and 1952.
This marks the second straight year the Marlins will wear throwback jerseys. On July 20, 2013 in Milwaukee, they wore jerseys that Satchel Paige and the 1956 Miami Marlins played in as Triple-A members of the International League.
