Miami Marlins center fielder Marcell Ozuna exited Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics after his seventh-inning at-bat with a cramp in his right leg.
Ozuna sent righty Fernando Abad's first pitch to the warning track in left-center field for a line-drive out. FOX Sports Florida's camera caught Ozuna imitating his swing for head athletic trainer Sean Cunningham upon his return to the dugout, perhaps indicating he hurt it that way. The pair headed to the clubhouse for further evaluation.
The 23-year-old is tied for third among National League outfielders with 46 RBI (ninth overall in NL) and fourth in home runs with 13 (12th overall). He was 1 for 4 in the game with a run.
''On my extension, got a cramp, but I'm OK,'' Ozuna said. ''It's OK. I'm good for tomorrow. I wait for his decision. I'm ready to play tomorrow.''
Jake Marisnick took Ozuna's place in center to begin the eighth.
Miami has been without Christian Yelich, who is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Sunday, because of a lower back strain. Yelich was in the dugout during Saturday's game after returning from a rehab stint with Triple-A New Orleans.
''He said it was a cramp,'' manager Mike Redmond said. ''Like anything I hope it was a cramp. But we'll know more in the morning. They seem to think it was just a cramp and he'll be fine to play. Hopefully that's the case. We'll know more tomorrow.''
