Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez could make his 2015 debut sometime in June or July, according to general manager Dan Jennings.

In an interview with MLB Network Radio on Sunday, Jennings said the 2013 National League Cy Young finalist and NL Rookie of the Year has a timetable between June 15 and July 15.

The Marlins host the New York Yankees June 15-16. July 15 is during the All-Star break. Miami then travels to Philadelphia to play the Phillies from July 17-19.

Fernandez, who underwent Tommy John surgery on May 16, 2014, has been rehabbing in South Florida with a throwing program supervised by training staff. Recovery time usually ranges from 12 to 18 months.

Last year, Fernandez didn't want to put a date on his return, though he had stated 14 months. That would put him in line for a return after the All-Star break.

"I think that's going to be in large part once we go to camp he's going to start on the mound," Jennings said. "He'll start his progression there and then there will be a rehab assignment of which depending on where that is -- I'm sure there will be some down arm period, dead arm period. So somewhere between that 15th of June, 15th of July is realistic."

Jennings also addressed the Dan Haren situation. Haren, who was acquired in the winter meetings trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, had expressed his desire to remain in southern California near his family. His status had remained uncertain.

The Marlins hope his veteran presence and consistency (30-plus starts in 10 straight season) would complement a young rotation. Jennings offered an update on Sunday.

"We all know the story, we've talked about his desire to pitch out on the west coast," Jennings said. "We've had conversation with him. He is preparing for spring training like he's done any other year, and I think he will be primed and ready to go. To use his own words, he's looking very forward to being a Miami Marlin."
