Mark Wahlberg calls Tom Brady an 'American hero' and 'cultural icon'

While the NFL and non-Patriots fans continue to persecute Tom Brady for his general awareness of football manipulation in the Deflategate scandal, actor/producer/Boston native/Funky Bunch-er Mark Wahlberg defended the QB during a spot on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Friday. As you probably would expect.

But Wahlberg didn't only absolve the QB of any guilt, the Patriots homer called Brady (who has a ridiculous cameo in Wahlberg's upcoming "Ted 2") an "American hero" and "cultural icon."

He's right about the cultural icon portion at least. Why does any of this matter? To be sure, it doesn't. But Wahlberg's stance is emblematic of the horde of Patriots fans who believe that Brady did no wrong and probably could not commit any wrongdoing unless he was led into it blindly by a crook dressed in a nun's habit.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft has reluctantly accepted the NFL's penalty against the organization and thereby tacitly admitted wrongdoing, but Brady and his band of Deflategate Truthers like Wahlberg aren't going down like that.

You're on you're own, Mr. Kraft!
