FOX Sports Detroit's Mario Impemba was honored with an appreciation award for his work with veterans.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Detroit Chapter 9, along with the Metro Detroit Veterans Coalition presented the award to Impemba last night.

"I am very grateful and humbled to receive this award," said Impemba, who is in his 14th season as the Tigers play-by-play announcer. "It's an honor to be recognized by the Vietnam Veterans of America and I thank them for their service to our nation."

In 2013, Impemba launched his Military Veterans Program (MVP), which brings 30 veterans of all eras and families affected by a family member's service to Comerica Park for every Monday home game. The veterans ride the FOX Sports Detroit Fan Express to the ballpark, enjoy a Tigers game, dinner and a special meet-and-greet.
