Marcedes Lewis loves London, but not feelin' two games

By Ross Jones, FOXSports.com LONG BEACH, Calif. – If something is good then more is better, right? Well, not necessarily. Although Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis thinks playing overseas in London against the San Francisco 49ers this season is “awesome,” he has some slight reservations when it comes to playing two games. “That would be tough, Lewis told FOXSports.com Saturday at his annual youth football camp. “That would be real tough. That would be a lot of miles on our body. I’m sure it will be figured out, but personally I’m not for it. I guess it’s not my decision though.” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell indicated earlier this month that he would like to see a franchise move overseas permanently. And an idea to play two games – a road and away game – at Wembley Stadium, which was suggested by Jaguars.com, could be a good barometer to measure fan interest. Lewis, who spent the day teaching kids the fundamentals of football, was quick to acknowledge that he is looking forward to making the trip this season. “It builds awareness and I haven’t been to London yet, so it’ll be awesome to go over there and play a football game. But the fact that the NFL is expanding like that and choosing the Jags to go over there and do it, is great. When asked if his hometown – Los Angeles – or London deserves an NFL team more, Lewis had his mind made up. “I think [Los Angeles],” Lewis said. “I know they would love to have a team. Every time I go home people always ask me, ‘Marcedes, when are you going to come play in LA?’ Obviously, it’s not my decision, but I would say so.” Since the end of last season, the Jaguars have made some franchise-altering moves including a new general manager David Caldwell and new head coach Gus Bradley. The Jags decided to sign Bradley after he coordinated a Seahawks’ defense that finished first in points allowed. Lewis couldn’t be more thrilled with the new addition. “[Bradley] is amazing. It’s awesome with the energy that he brings. He’s definitely leading us in the right direction. It’s a breath of fresh air to be honest. When he first came in everybody kind of questioned if that was going to be a one-time thing. Nobody could be that enthusiastic about being somewhere. But given the fact that’s how he is, he’s definitely rubbed off on our team in a positive way. The Jags just wrapped up minicamp and have some time in between training camp, which begins July 26. The Jags veteran unveiled his plans to spend as much time with family at home during the lull. That’s a great thing as the Jags will be spending some additional time on the road in 2013.
