Marathoners get married during race

A couple of runners started the LiveStrong Austin Marathon single, but they finished the race married to each other.

San Antonio, Texas, residents Amanda Kirschner, 28, and David Guzman, 30, tied the knot at the 22.5-mile mark -- then crossed the finish line hand-in-hand, the Austin American-Statesman reported Sunday.

Marathon officials helped coordinate the wedding, tracking down retired state district judge Jon Wisser, a longtime runner, to perform the service.

The bride wore a white running skirt, a shirt that said "Bride" on the front with a small veil over her ponytail, while the groom wore a black T-shirt with a tuxedo printed on the front.

The happy couple crossed the finish line five hours and 23 minutes after they started.

About 15 guests -- dress code casual -- gathered for the ceremony and post-wedding photos before completing the race and then retiring to Freebird's World Burrito for post-wedding burritos, chips and queso.
