All due respect to author Thomas Wolfe, based on reports, demands and suggestions this weekend, it is not true in the NFL that You Can't Go Home Again.
There is talk that the Denver Broncos could trade former University of Florida sensation Tim Tebow to Jacksonville and that Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams is making a big push to acquire former University of Tennessee standout Peyton Manning.
However, it will be impossible for both of those moves to take place. According to reports, Tebow could only be traded if Manning signed with Denver.
Manning himself spent Sunday visiting the Arizona Cardinals, where he was joined for a while by Arizona's great wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, but not his agent, Tom Condon. So a deal with the Cardinals does not seem imminent.
Meantime, Adams told Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean Sunday that he has contacted Condon and is pushing for Manning to visit the Titans.
"He is the man I want. Period," Adams told The Tennessean. "And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning and the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn't happen."
This does conflict with previous quotes from General Manager Ruston Webster, Chief Operation Officers Mike Reinfeldt and Coach Mike Munchak, all of whom have said they are happy with their current quarterbacks, Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker.
However, according to an ESPN report, the Denver Broncos are Manning's preferred choice and, citing a source "close to the team," Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio said the Broncos could trade Tebow to Jacksonville if they sign Manning.
The University of Florida alum could be a drawing card, for Jacksonville, which watched rookie Blaine Gabbert and Luke McCown struggle at quarterback last year.
