Orlando Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will miss Saturday night's game in Charlotte with a sprained left ankle, according to the team's website.

Nelson injured the ankle when he landed on Devin Harris' foot trying to block a shot from the right corner with 1:55 left in Friday's game against New Jersey.

"He didn't go up face to face and come straight down," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said of the injury after Friday's game. "He turned and his foot went right on top of his [Harris'] foot. I have no idea how bad it is, but we'll find out. I want Jameer [to play]. I thought he was great tonight, and hopefully he'll be able to play."

After the game, Nelson was noticeably hobbled in the locker room, and said that he would wait and "see how it feels tomorrow" before making a decision on his playing status. X-rays on the ankle after the game were negative.

Nelson has missed 57 games over the past two seasons with injuries to his right shoulder and left knee, but isn't expected to miss significant time as a result of this injury.

Chris Duhon will start in Nelson's place with veteran reserve Jason Williams backing him up.

Nelson has averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game through the first four games of the season. For his career, Nelson has averaged 14.8 points and 5 rebounds against Charlotte, and during last year's playoff sweep of the Bobcats, Nelson averaged 23.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Duhon has averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per game this season. Williams has only seen time in two games, and has yet to score a point this season.

Williams missed last Friday's loss to Miami while he served a suspension for making contact with an official during the season-opening win over Washington.
