With three games remaining in the regular season, the Mid-American Conference seedings are still up in the air.

Akron (20-8, 12-1 MAC) needs one more win to clinch the regular season championship, while Ohio University (22-8, 9-4), Kent State (19-8, 9-4) and Buffalo (16-9, 9-4) are all tied for second and competing for the other triple-bye in the conference tournament.

During non-conference play this season, no team stormed out to a better start than Ohio, who began the year 12-1. Their only loss was a four-point contest to Louisville, which gave the impression that the Bobcats were the class of the MAC.

However, NE Ohio has played house of horrors for OU. Falling in their first MAC contest against Bowling Green (14-13, 7-6) Jan. 7, and then shocked by Toledo (14-14, 5-8) Feb. 8, teams from that area have been a thorn in the side for the Bobcats. Now they host Akron at the Convocation Center in Athens on Sunday to get revenge for an earlier loss and stay in contention for second place.

This will be the last home game of the season for the Bobcats, who then will travel to Kent State and Miami (9-17, 5-8) to complete the regular season. Ohio will likely need to win at least two out of their last three.

Buffalo has lost their last three games and has a must-win situation when they host Miami Saturday afternoon. Buffalo escaped Oxford with a one point victory when the two met in January. The Bulls are in the best position out of the three competing for the triple-bye, with two of their last three games at home.

Finally, Kent State will travel to Bowling Green Saturday, where the Falcons own a 4-2 record in the MAC. Bowling Green is also in a battle with Eastern Michigan (12-16, 7-6) for fifth place. Kent will play two of their final three at home, facing both Ohio and Akron in the final stretch.
