MINNEAPOLIS -- Theairra Taylor's dream of playing for her hometown team was cut short at one preseason game.

The Lynx guard, a St. Paul Central High School and Iowa product, was one of two players cut Tuesday. The team announced it has waived her and center Asya Bussie, trimming the roster to 14 ahead of this weekend's preseason tournament in Orlando, Fla.

An undrafted training camp invitee, Taylor tallied two points and two rebounds in 17 minutes of Minnesota's exhibition Monday against the Australian national team. The Lynx picked Bussie in the second round (15th overall) of this spring's WNBA Draft but let her go after a strained right quadriceps kept her out of Monday's preseason game.

The Lynx must still cut two more players in order to reach the league's roster maximum of 12 before the season begins. Their regular season opener is May 16 at Washington.
